Western Loudoun County is where rolling countryside, historic charm, and modern conveniences all come together. From vineyards and equestrian estates to vibrant small towns, this region offers a lifestyle that is both relaxed and connected. As a fifth-generation Loudoun native, I’ve had the privilege of not only watching these communities grow but also helping buyers and sellers make their home here.

If you’re considering a move to Loudoun County, here’s a closer look at some of my favorite communities.

Round Hill, VA
Round Hill, VA

Round Hill: Small-Town Charm with Big Views

Round Hill sits at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering sweeping views and easy access to hiking, wineries, and country living. Known for its strong sense of community, Round Hill hosts seasonal events and has a quaint small-town feel. It’s perfect for buyers who want a peaceful setting but still need quick access to Route 7 for commuting.

Highlights:

  • Blue Ridge Mountain views

  • Close to Sleeter Lake and Franklin Park

  • Family-friendly neighborhoods and larger lots

Purcellville: A Blend of History and Modern Living

Often called the “Gateway to the Blue Ridge,” Purcellville offers a mix of historic homes, established neighborhoods, and newer communities. Its charming downtown is filled with boutique shops, breweries, and local restaurants. With excellent schools and community spirit, Purcellville appeals to families, professionals, and anyone looking for a welcoming small-town vibe.

Highlights:

  • Vibrant downtown with dining and shopping

  • Rich history and preserved architecture

  • Community events like the Purcellville Wine & Food Festival

Lovettsville: The German Settlement with Country Spirit

Lovettsville, originally known as “The German Settlement,” embraces its heritage with annual events like Oktoberfest and a true sense of community pride. Surrounded by open farmland, Lovettsville offers buyers the chance to enjoy country living with modern amenities. Its location near the Potomac River also provides easy access into Maryland.

Highlights:

  • Strong community events and festivals

  • Country charm with new construction options

  • Easy access to Frederick, MD

Waterford: Timeless History and Tranquil Living

Waterford is one of the most unique communities in all of Loudoun. As a National Historic Landmark Village, it feels like stepping back in time with its preserved 18th and 19th-century homes, stone walls, and winding streets. Buyers who choose Waterford aren’t just purchasing a home—they’re becoming part of a piece of American history.

Highlights:

  • Designated National Historic Landmark

  • Stunning period homes with character and charm

  • A tranquil lifestyle surrounded by history

Why Buyers Love Western Loudoun

No matter which town you choose, Western Loudoun offers:

  • Lifestyle: Wineries, breweries, horse farms, and endless outdoor recreation.

  • Convenience: Easy access to commuter routes while still enjoying wide open spaces.

  • Community: Strong local pride and plenty of events to connect with neighbors.
